BluePoint Financial Interview

By Interviewer at 10/24/09 19:18

Maryland, any: Let me help with any credit questions you may have! Name of your website?

BluePoint Financial

Your name?

Terrence Johnson

Your Location (city, etc)

Germantown

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Informational and membership sales site about credit restoration including credit restoration myths, laws, processes, legal and ethical perspectives, as well as the option of joining as a member.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

What inspired the launching of the website was to make it easier to contact more people in the country who may be interested in our services. It makes us available to anyone who is interested at the click of a button or two.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is our first website that we actually took the time to put our time into, we originally launched it in December of 2007. After learning the mistakes we made, we revamped in June of 2008 with a whole new look and feel - which is what we have on our site today.

We had sites for other companies years before, but never really were involved. Cookie cutter type sites I think they call it? Basically, here's the money, make it work. Not this time. We were in this every step of the way with our BluePoint site.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The answer to that is kind of corny... the sky is blue and we wanted this company to take off pointing upwards... Blue Point, corny I know.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

The wealth of information on our site is amazing. We want to educate people, not just sell them. We are dedicated to helping people achieve the financial success they desire... a lot of our competition is not.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I want to grow this company and keep it. I would like to become a well known and respected expert in the field of credit restoration. I grew this company from the ground up and am excited to be a part of it. I could not see myself selling the company right now.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

All are pretty balanced, but honestly like most entrepreneurs can admit, it wasn't always that way. I am quickly learning as the company grows how to 'sniff' out the best and most efficient resources without having to fork over huge amounts of time and money, which is a wonderful lesson to learn and implement.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would add those little bells and whistles like a live chat feature, one of those pop out people who come and talk to you, things like that. We have a pretty great site as it is, but you can never stop improving.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Absolutely, yes! We have held this vision of our site exploding for some time now and have done our research. We are prepared and actually ready with our battalions in the wing! BRING IT ON!

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Not necessarily a monetary cost, but the time and effort to do all of this site stuff was taking its toll... that is when I decided that I needed to be resourceful and seek help. Things have completely changed since I did that. The only headache is the time. I am an action type person and I really don't like waiting. But I understand, Rome wasn't built in a day.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Letting go of all projects, I guess we would call it micro-managing? I want to be involved with every aspect of my business... after all it is my baby! But I cannot and this was a big challenge for me. Letting go of my need to know everything that was going on was my biggest challenge and I did so by trusting that I had chosen quality staff who understood my vision for the company and was upholding the standard.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

The social networks have proven very successful so far. I guess like I mentioned I am an action type of person and these social networks provide constant action and interaction, which I like a lot.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

There is so much involved in a website that I did not know about. There really is. It can be daunting at times, thank goodness for the techies out there who have helped a newbie like me. I expected to have the site done in a week or so when we first started, I was in for a rude awakening! It all was worth it though. I am very pleased with the site.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site has been up for a bit over a year and I could not see the company vision without it. It has helped immensely with modernizing my sales approach, my customer service and the overall vision of the company. This site will definitely be kept up as we grow. No doubt about that!

How has having a website made an impact on your business overall?

I honestly think that having this site forced me to come into the twenty-first century. I was one of those traditional sales type business owners who believed in hitting the pavement and making it happen. While there is nothing wrong with that, it was not the most efficient way for us given the advances in technology and how other businesses were enjoying mind-blowing success because of their internet presence. My idea of innovation was using a war dialer up until a few years ago! Having a website has positively impacted my business in too many ways to mention.

What is your website address?

BluePoint Financial
