Free Student Loan Consolidation Information & Resources Interview

Name of your website?

Free Student Loan Consolidation Information & Resources

Your name?

Christian Rogers

Your Location (city, etc)

carlsbad, ca

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We provide free resources to students so they can investigate options for consolidating their current student loans, apply for new school loans, and learn about the various types of loans available.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I wanted to do something creative, so I learned how to create graphics and some basic html, so I could start building websites for fun. Now I do it to make some extra money on the side, but it's still fun to create.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I created my first website back in 1998 and it was free, inside information on how to get good deals when purchasing a new car. It had inside tips and tricks that only people in the auto industry would know about. It was a horrible looking site.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Not real difficult actually...it just says what the site is about

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

We take a little of what everyone else offers, and have compiled it into one big resource of information about school loans.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep it for a while to build traffic and see if I can generate some advertising revenues from it

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

So far, there's a lot more time and money into it than success, but the site is new and we're promoting it everywhere we can to get the name out there

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I'd buy advertising on major sites, as well as do print advertising.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Hard to say, but I'd like to find out

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Nothing so far...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Site development and launch wasn't too difficult, but promoting is a lot of work

What has been your biggest challenge?

Promoting the website, building good backlinks, writing articles about our site is the biggest challenge.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Free article submission, social bookmarking and free directory link submissions are the best ways I know of to get your site name out there. If it's a good site, with good content, people will naturally start to link to your site, which increases traffic and search engine ranings.
