Name of your website?

Equity Loan Finder.com

Your name?

Richard

Your Location (city, etc)

Fort Collins

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The websites purpose is to assist consumers who are getting a home loan by providing a central location for common questions searched on the internet.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Frustration on finding relevent information when I was looking for a home loan. I found it but I had to go to many sites to find what I was looking for.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

In 2004 it was a website about playing chess, I had recently become a higher level player and wanted to help others in learning one of my passions.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Seemed catching and easy to remember and I thought if I could remember it then others will as well.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

The site has no goal of getting you to get a home loan from us only to provide you with information so that when you do get home loans you can make an informed decision.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To have it be more interactive so that consumers can rate there experience with loan providers, brokers, etc... So that if you live in any city you can type in a name and you can read others experience with dealing with the company or person.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

So far it's one sided the site is now starting to take the shape I've envisioned. In terms of success it's been minimal due to more focus being on content then on marketing or SEO.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would outsource all programming, change the layout to include a blog with categorization in cities and state.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

No I would not be able to but if it does become really big I have a netword of friend who can help me through it.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Really just time, I have the content but formatting it and presenting it in a clear and professional manner has been a struggle.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Finding the time to work on the site while I still maintain another job.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

So far it's been reciprocal link exchange, being selective regarding the sites I exchange with making sure they are relevent.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It has been challenging, the gap between the vision I have and my programming skills is huge. Each day I get a little closer but it's a marothon not a sprint.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It has been up for almost two years and I hope to keep it up indefinitly.
